Who deserves to be a millionaire? TLM Nigeria does!

I saw this on the TLM Nigeria intranet:

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is a general knowledge television quiz programme that debuted on ITV in the United Kingdom (UK) in 1998. When the UK host, Chris Tarrant first uttered the now immortal line “Is that your final answer?” on the 4th of September 1998, no one could have forseen that it would become a global catchphrase. Nearly six years on, from United States to Saudi Arabia; France to India; Italy to Israel and Holland to South Africa, the programme has been and remains a major hit in all the countries where it is being shown. It has quite simply, catapulted into the record books as a global phenomenon. It is now licensed in over 100 countries, making it the biggest TV quiz programme in the world!

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is based on a simple concept of one contestant winning cash prizes as he/she answers questions correctly. The cash prize to be won gets bigger with every question answered correctly; with 15 consecutive correct answers winning the contestant Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) !!!

The program was first aired in Nigeria as the 104th country on 8th October 2004 . The N10, 000,000 top prize money is the highest prize of any game show in Nigeria and the show itself ranks amongst the most watched shows in Nigeria with a viewer-ship base of close to 50million.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? has a variety of specials which includes: The Lecturer/Student Special, Valentine Special; where a couple get to play for 10 million naira together, Children’s Special; where a child gets to play in the hot-seat for 10 million naira worth of scholarship. Who Deserves To Be A Millionaire? Where celebrities play on behalf of someone or group of people who have contributed in their own way to the positive image of the nation either as athlete, veteran actors, charity homes and the like.

TLM Nigeria was contacted to participate on the platform of Who Deserves To Be A Millionaire? Ultima Limited, the media outfit that produces the programme in Nigeria, visited our National Coordination Office in Minna, after they did a search on the Internet and shortlisted TLM-Nigeria among other charity organisations in Nigeria to be considered for this opportunity. TLM Nigeria was selected amongst many by the Board of Directors – Ultima Limited.

Dr Sunday Udo sat on the hot-seat in company of two other popular Nigeria movie artistes, and together were able to win One Million Naira for the Mission. Other benefits include: a life-account opened on behalf of TLM Nigeria where they will continue to advocate to corporate bodies, and donations sent into it; a 5.5KVa Generator was also donated to the Mission, and an opportunity to meet with a host of Corporate bodies like MTN, and media houses that sort for interviews.

This programme has been aired on both the public and private media houses in Nigeria, and this has launched The Leprosy Mission Nigeria into a new height of publicity never imagined before. We give God all the Glory,…… for great things He has done!
