UK closed until further notice!

Man, if ever there was a time I wish I was back in Africa, it is now! London, Scotland and wales ful of snow. The rest of the country wondering what zero degrees feels like because we have been below zero for so long. Gatwick and Heathrow have turned into refugee camps and people wondering if they really can get home for Christmas.
Funnily enough I have not heard any radio station playing "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" this year! I think if they did there would be a riot!

6 Nigerians came from Abuja for a 1 week training workshop ust a few miles from Heathrow and have been stranded at Heathrow since Saturday trying to travel back home. There is hope that today they can go home. They have managed to get onto a flight to Lagos which leaves late this morning. (They were originally going to Abuja, but they were even happy to go to Accra if need be. Anything to get away from the cold!)

Another Nigerian is currently squatting with us as his flight with a diffreent airline was cancelled last week and they have booked him onto Wednesday's flight. he will make his way to London tomorrow and sleep at Gatwick in the hope of flying to Lagos on Weds am.

What I wouldn't give for the 34 degrees forecast for Abuja today! Heaven!!

(Christmas tree in Nigeria)

Sunday night we had our carol service at church. It was as always a lovely hour when we invited friends and neighbours to come and celebrate Christmas with us in song and readings from the Bible. This year we also had a brillinat Powerpoint of photographs of people each holding up card saying "Because of Jesus..." and then they had finished the sentence with their own words. Showed with beautiful music in the background it was a very moving part of the service. As usual the kids sang the carol ("It was on a starry night") that they have been practicing for weeks; and as usual there were some who just stood with their eyes and mouths held open in awe as they were struck with stage fright. Hee hee!

Happy Christmas everyone!

Emmanuel, God is with us!
